This coffee is decaffeinated using the Swiss Water Process:
The Swiss Water Process is a chemical-free method of decaffeinating coffee. It begins with soaking green coffee beans in hot water, allowing caffeine and flavor compounds to dissolve. The water, now rich in coffee flavors and caffeine, is then passed through a charcoal filter that traps the caffeine molecules while allowing the flavor compounds to pass through. The beans are discarded, and the remaining flavor-rich, caffeine-free water, known as Green Coffee Extract (GCE), is used to soak a new batch of green coffee beans. Because the GCE is already saturated with flavor compounds, only caffeine is drawn out from these beans. This cycle is repeated until the beans are 99.9% caffeine-free, ensuring the flavor is preserved while removing the caffeine.
