Clean Water & Coffee

Bringing Clean Water To Coffee Farmers

I heard this crazy stat the other day...

“Some 829,000 people are estimated to die each year from diarrhea as a result of unsafe drinking-water, sanitation, and hand hygiene…”

“The deaths of 297,000 children aged under 5 years could be avoided each year if they had clean water."
- World Health Organization

And then I found out that one of the hardest hit groups in need of clean water is…
coffee farming communities

Here’s what I realized after reading that article:
Farmers are growing and processing coffee for us; to sit and drink over here by the beach, in the cafes, at our homes, while still struggling to supply clean water to their families to simply live each day.

Take a second to really let that scenario sink in.
When it hit me, It pissed me off.  Like an appropriate feeling of righteous, “I had no idea this was even happening! Why is this even happening right now!” type reaction.

After having my moment of "how is this still happening in modern times", I wanted to do something about it. Not just shrug it off and say "hopefully someone else will fix this"

That's when I got in touch with with Sean from One Atta Time. They make filters that produce clean water for families in these areas. It is so tangible, doable, and a concrete answer to the need for clean water.

After learning about their cause, I decided the Bear Coast Family needs to do something to contribute. From this point forward, we're giving a portion of our sales directly to One Atta Time so that they can produce more life-saving water filters.

We want our farmers and their families to thrive. As we work on environmental sustainability, we need to at the same time remember to love and support the humans in that environment.

There's no extra step for you to do to make sure part of your purchase goes towards charity. We will handle all of that for you starting now.

Our pillars as a company are Community, Creatives, and Coffee.
The idea of community extends farrrrr beyond our zip code, but you know that.

This partnership will not prevent us from partnering with other non-profits and people doing good. But this is now just a core portion of Bear Coast.

Love you guys. Let’s drink coffee and do some good.

- Jeff & The Entire Bear Coast Crew
