Clean Water & Coffee

Clean Water & Coffee

Let’s bring clean water to coffee farmers.

We have several major updates this week, and I wanted to lead off with our partnership with One Atta Time.

“Some 829,000 people are estimated to die each year from diarrhea as a result of unsafe drinking-water, sanitation, and hand hygiene…”
“The deaths of 297,000 children aged under 5 years could be avoided each year…” if they had clean water.
-World Health Organization

And then I found out that one of groups in need of clean water is…

Coffee farming communities.

Here’s what hit me:
Farmers were growing and processing coffee for us; to sit and drink over here by the beach, in the cafes, at our homes, while still struggling to supply clean water to their families to simply live.

Take a second, and let that scenario sink in.
When it hit me, It pissed me off.  Like an appropriate feeling of righteous, “I had no idea this was even happening! Why is this even happening right now!” type reaction.

It also made me thankful I was having a conversation with Sean from One Atta Time. They make filters that produce clean water for families in these areas. It is so tangible, doable, and a concrete answer to the need for clean water.

So we are giving a percentage of ALL our sales this Holiday Season to them. Straight across the board. Starting now.

And moving forward after the holidays a portion of all our bean sales will go towards making these filters.

We want our farmers and their families to thrive.  As we work on environmental sustainability, we need to at the same time remember to love and support the humans in that environment.

No code needed, no extra step for you.  This is what we are doing now.

Our pillars as a company are Community, Creatives, and Coffee.
The idea of community extends farrrrr beyond our zip code, but you know that.

This partnership will not prevent us from partnering with other non-profits and people doing good. But this is now just a core portion of Bear Coast.

Love you guys. Let’s drink coffee and do some good.
