Flavor Notes:
Blackberry – Coffee Blossom  – Vibrant Citrus

RED WINE ACIDITY – MEDIUM BODY

Guji Megadu comes from the forested highlands of southern Ethiopia’s Guji Zone, where coffee grows at high elevation in semi-wild conditions. This lot is produced by Bette Buna Farm, a family-run operation rooted in generations of Ethiopian coffee tradition while embracing modern processing techniques. Cherries are hand-picked at peak ripeness, carefully sorted, and fermented whole in sealed, oxygen-free tanks before being slowly sun-dried on raised beds to preserve clarity and depth.

This microlot is composed of indigenous Ethiopian landrace varietals, including wild Guji genetics rarely encountered in modern coffee production. These varietals trace their lineage back to coffee’s birthplace and express a complexity that can only come from high-elevation, forest-grown environments. The combination of cool nights, rich soil, and careful fermentation allows the coffee’s natural fruit character to fully develop.

The result is a vibrant and expressive cup, bursting with ripe blackberry and concord grape sweetness, layered with toffee-like richness and lifted by delicate floral aromatics. The anaerobic natural process adds intensity and structure while maintaining balance, creating a coffee that is both bold and remarkably refined.

Roaster’s Reserve: Curated by Marie Marsh

This coffee is part of our Roaster’s Reserve series — a limited collection personally selected and refined by our head roaster, Marie Marsh. Marie chose this Guji Megadu lot for its rare varietal makeup, experimental processing, and striking fruit character. Her roasting approach brings clarity to the fermentation-driven sweetness while preserving the coffee’s wild, expressive nature.

As with all Roaster’s Reserve offerings, each bag is personally signed and marked with its roast date, creating a direct connection from farm to roaster to you.
