ELLA is a coffee that reflects who we are as a community. At Bear Coast Coffee, our growth has been shaped and strengthened by women—leaders in our cafés, our company, and the communities around us. This offering honors that reality by spotlighting women-owned coffee farms in Guatemala, recognizing the resilience, leadership, and care women bring to every part of the coffee journey, from seed to cup.
Across Guatemala, women make up the majority of the coffee labor force while owning only a small share of land and resources. ELLA exists to help elevate their work and stories by supporting sourcing efforts that create greater visibility and long-term opportunity for women producers. This coffee is part of a broader movement to value not just quality in the cup, but equity and intentionality at origin.
The ELLA blend is a curated selection of women-produced lots from three farms in Santa Rosa, Fraijanes, and San Marcos, grown at high elevations and featuring classic Guatemalan varieties like Caturra, Catuai, and Bourbon. In the cup, expect a full, creamy body with brown sugar sweetness, notes of orange and berries, and a soft, pleasant nuttiness. It’s approachable, comforting, and deeply meaningful—just like the community it represents.
